Locations are always active: more control over stock changes

Previously you could switch locations on or off manually within the platform. That option has been removed. From now on locations are always enabled by default for all users. This makes for a more consistent way of working and prepares the ground for future extensions of warehouse management.

New: you now have the option to enable ‘Require stock on a location’.
This means you decide whether all your employees have to select a location for every stock change. It increases the accuracy of your stock management and prevents mistakes.

What changes for me?

If you already used locations:
Nothing changes in the way you work. Because you were already using locations actively, we enabled the setting ‘Require stock on a location’ for your company by default. That matches the earlier behaviour.

If you did not use locations yet:
From now on you will see a location on products and orders, labelled “Unassigned” by default.
This location:

• cannot be deleted or changed.
• is used by default for stock changes.

For your company we set ‘Require stock on a location’ to off, just like before.
When you update stock now, you will have to select a location first. We automatically preselect the “Unassigned” location for you, so you can carry on without changing your process.
